Thieves are Thieves

Thieves are out to steal. Only a handful steal for food, out of hunger. But all are up to no good. In Kuala Lumpur, thieves are a menace to society. Besides robbing you in your own homes, they also carry out their trade as pedestrians, lurking at back lanes and side walks, ready to pounce their victims every time an opportunity arises. Many would snatch and run, more often than not, into the crowd. Many too would depend on their motorbikes to make the run into the traffic. These bikers, now known as "road samseng" choose their targets well, their preference are ladies and mothers.
Have you ever thought what drives a person to steal? Money, yes. Fun, no. To the thief, stealing is an easy way to get money but with a very high risk. This is known to them. Thieves are much cleverer than what you think they are not. It is an art. They even lurk in the internet, the best cover for disguise.
I will reserve my thoughts on commercial thieves and thieves manipulating the system, robbing you and me out of our hard earned cash. Don't ever be one!

Anger and frustration

Anger is not about the mind but our feelings controlling our thoughts. People vent their anger because they cannot control their thoughts, fear engulfed their brains and their thoughts become negative. To the angry person, all things negative are "good". Whilst anger is completely normal, it can get out of control and turn destructive. This is when rage and fury takes over.
It is instinctive of humans to express anger with aggressiveness. Being aggressive is downright unhealthy when we become physically abusive. It can happen anywhere, at home, in the office or even in parliament. It would be good that Malaysians are given simple basic training on how to control anger. We can begin with the schools, as a head start.
All it needs are 3 basic approaches and that is, expressing, suppressing and calming. Yes, anger can be suppressed, redirected and converted into constructive behaviour. People who easily become angry have a low tolerance of frustration. Family values and respect at an early age can go a long way to help Malaysians become a more pleasant people with high values for one another.

Just coffee shop talk

"I don't trust the law anymore in Malaysia". I was in a coffee shop this evening and overheard the next table talking, not that I want to eavesdrop, but that was their point of discussion. There they were, citizens of our country, discussing about our judicial system, judges taking sides and the system politically manipulated. Such negative outbursts are the nucleus of the atom. Setting the negatively charged electrons to vibrate will ionised the molecules. In our body, the effect is disastrous. Humans are diseased from this simple basic phenomena. It's unwise to write-off the coffee shop talk.

Extreme thoughts

Malaysiakini carried an article captioned "BN blunders and plunders". Wow...losing its forte, that's what it seems to be for Barisan Nasional at the moment. A noxious thought would make you believe that you have been robbed of your rights. But this is not quite so. We are still better off than most of our neighbours both politically and economically. I can still enjoy my cup of coffee every morning, so what's the fuss about this robbing us of our rights!

This is DEMOCRACY

It's their right to make such a choice. Lest we forget, this is DEMOCRACY, everyone has his or her right and Barisan Nasional has exercise their right not to participate in the PENANTI By Election. Just as we cannot stop people from making their perceptions of the government, we cannot stop or go against the decision which is wholly their right to democracy! wow... politics is colourful, a right can be wrong and a wrong is right!

Who are the BIGGEST Liars?

I woke up this morning thinking who are the biggest liars on earth. To be fair, let's pick your choice from businessmen, educationists, philanthropists, scientists, economists, engineers, financiers, accountants and politicians. Now, think.
Good, you have got your answer!

Come PLAY PLAY

No come play play in politics! If you do it in politics, you will end up like the PERAK house where there seems to be no end to the quarrels. Let's hope it will not make our learned Judges to argue over a senseless dwell! So much time has been wasted to Malaysia's disadvantage internationally. The simple truth is, only the Sultan has the power to stop the whole fiasco. HE holds the trump card. To the rakyat in Perak and Malaysia, enough is enough! Suing is not a way out, forget about face saving and don't talk about principles. There are none as of now.

More is not always better!

Politically by numbers, socially by thoughts and biologically by chemicals, more is not always better. George W.Bush was wrong with more troops in Iraq, thoughts collide in society and chemicals can do havoc to your body systems. Only one entity can flourish amongst us humans without argument and if you say it is religion, I am afraid it is wrong. The answer is also not wisdom, or kindness, or humility but KNOWLEDGE.
Knowledge has the power to overcome any obstacles, a President will not be a President without knowledge of politics and no Ustadz or Priest can be part of the clergy without knowledge of their religions. What we are today is because of knowledge and the very reason this blog spot exists is because of knowledge of the internet. So is knowledge power and the best medicine? So it seems, the more knowledge one has, the better it is but alas, that's not the end, because knowledge can be twisted, corrupted, abused and land you in jail. That's is what is happening to Su Chi in Burma right now.

Barricaded in your house...feeling unsafe

High walls are typically jail-like. Your house is barricaded, your family is barricaded. Are you safe? How safe? You believe you are safe. Feeling safe is all what you want.
Security seems to be catching up with the richer of the rich in Malaysia. They fenced themselves up, alarm system and surveillance cameras are all in place and positioned at strategic locations in the garden and around the house. The very rich have guards and dogs to make up the force. Miri is no exception as more and more of those feeling unsafe look for security at home. I have none of those. My home is simple and my gates unlocked at night. I use simple lights to make the place look bright. Inside, I have the Lord to look after us.

Policing in the house

People are not above the law and no police officers are above the law. In the recent Perak fiasco, they broke the law by entering the house and manhandling the elected representatives who did not commit any crimes. No arguments about that. The media were there and those clips in Yahoo have by now been viewed the world over. So what is there to hide? Whatever denials one makes, those pictures are real happenings and no amount of defense by those in government can erase the fact that the police were there in the house mingling with the legislators, trying to enforce law and order in the wrong place. There are times when mistakes are made and must be admitted. Let's be fair to ourselves.

Dissatisfaction can GROW

Dissatisfaction amongst people are behind the many issues besetting governments the world over. Security issues, social issues, economic issues and of course political issues are not new challenges at all. Leaders will only have to calm the storms with tact and skills. Strategies must fall into place and ideas from all strata of society must be respected. Some countries not practicing democracy adopt other ways rather than listening to their society to solve their problems. And that has led to catastrophic situation. History has the record.
From a proven establishment in the US to the volatile Korean scenario, governments are chosen by the people, good governance is the keyword for progress. Good governance means upholding values. When ethical values erode amongst leaders or when greed engulf the system, we are faced with people becoming dissatisfied and dissatisfaction can GROW. Make no mistake about that.
At home here in Malaysia, I do not see that we have any threat to our security but security is made an issue with the Internal Security Act, somewhat 'abused' in the recent past. Social issues are rare, religious issues almost nil in Malaysia but what is very much disturbing now is the increasing political issues, the PERAK case being a classic example, the speck is already in the eye. This must not be denied by any quarters, please. Doing so will tantamount to sweeping such issues under the carpet.
The 1Malaysia concept, tough as it may sound, has been implemented by our Prime Minister in an effort to bring people of all races together. For it to work, it must first be understood and respected which is the difficult part. And hastily too, our PM has introduced the KPI, not a new thing administratively, the impact is more on sending a clear message to everyone in the system to buckle up or get thrown out.
Threats are always abound in any society and Malaysia is not an exception to this norm. If threats are anything to go by leading on to issues to be solved, it is imperative that leaders remain calm. HOW they solve it is MOST important. And a problem is certainly not solved when systems are manipulated thus creating more dissatisfaction. Think about it!

Food in Malaysia

Food is cheap in Malaysia if compared to Singapore, Australia and other countries. It's too bad if you disagree with me because with RM 2.50, I can get a bowl of noodles in Miri while I have to fork out 10 times that in Australia, for nearly the same thing. In Sarawak, a well balanced Nasi Lemak is RM 5.00 or cheaper, a price you cannot dream to get in Singapore. But of course, where you stop to savor your appetite also matters, it could just be a side street food stall serving hot curry rice and Nasi Ayam or one of those coffee restaurant eateries where all you need to do is choose on what to eat, Malaysia has it all. From French cuisine in posh surroundings to the meekness of the Indian Roti Canai, name it, we have it. Your choice of the food court or stopping where you prefer, if the surrounding is clean and the preparation tasty, your meal will always be worth your money. This is Malaysia, a food haven for all to enjoy. So,complaining of not enough food here and prices high are rubbish! Ask any tourist and they will tell you, Food in Malaysia, No.1. wow!

Black is the VENOM

A learned Malaysian Chinese gentleman was recently arrested and released for introducing the 1BLACKMalaysia. Black which symbolically implies mourning, sooty, sinister, sleek and deadly is the ‘venom’. Of course there’s no harm in wearing black clothing but wearing black towards a cause, significantly as a sign of protest will create harm. It has created harm. No doubt about that. This is a passive response or shall I say a passive resistance, his game plan was clearly, as I see it, to uphold democracy and the freedom of speech. The rationale to sit passively, vigil like, is Gandhian in nature, the non aggressive stance has but one clear objective and that is, to protest. That’s the motive, to protest. The norm with individuals is, they will only protest out of frustration. Protests in whatever form can turn ugly because people, being human beings can become aggressive when faced with failure to attain their goals.

No harsh tactics, please

Harsh tactics in any given society for the sake of keeping law and order will create dissatisfaction and breed the seeds of discord. We cannot achieve this ONE MALAYSIA concept with discord because human beings are human beings wherever they maybe. They have feelings, emotions, sentiments, eyes to see, ears to listen and uppermost, brains to think.

Don't let it go out of hand

Any dangerous political games played by both people in and out of the government can turn nasty and make people reckless, erode public confidence in the government, create animosity and bring down the economy. Let's hope our political leaders will use their common sense and get on with the business of running the government in a fair and transparent manner. Doing it with an iron fist will never work. Political games can backfire and go out of hand...by then, it's too late!

You don't OWN him or her

Already married, getting married, going to get married again or have been married for 30 years. One thing is for sure, love aside, you don't OWN him or her. Wow...

Here's what not I wrote but what I got...

Wow...tactics, tactics, tactics, so be careful or you will be brainwashed!!!!!
Mind control is the successful control of the thoughts and actions of another without his or her consent. Generally, the term implies that the victim has given up some basic political, social, or religious beliefs and attitudes, and has been made to accept contrasting ideas. 'Brainwashing' is often used loosely to refer to being persuaded by propaganda. wow..a mind game of sort, I don't know.

Prostitution...the wow of the flesh trade.

Prostitution is not a good word. As one of the oldest trade known to mankind, it has blemished the reputation of emperors, kings and presidents. Yet some nations today thrive economically on what they have to offer via prostitution. Social escort services you see advertised legally are mere cover-ups. Let's be clear about that.
Paris is not clean, Hong Kong is not clean, Singapore is not clean and certainly KL is not clean. I won't want to mention some other cities around us. They have filtered prostitution to make it a legal trade. So much can be said about this flesh trade. Students are not spared and soliciting for customers during their semester breaks is nothing new...wow.

A small but important experience

This is based on my own experience and also from the many comments I received from Malaysians travelling to the UK and Australia where white people are the majority. The word is mannerism imbibed in their culture. Such remarks like Thank You, I am Sorry and How are you Sir? are used without hesitant amongst themselves and also to us Asians. Taking it positively, Malaysians of all races can take this as a cue and learn to be more polite...wow!

Your prostrate problem - what about?

In the event you have difficulty in urination or upon receiving a Doctor's prognosis on your prostrate problem, the following may calm your fears. I always believe that knowledge is the best medicine.

The prostrate gland secretes the fluid which is responsible for the transportation of sperms and it is a part of men’s reproductive system. The gland is located below the bladder and it is positioned as surrounding the urethra, which is a tube responsible for draining the bladder.

The prostrate gland can be irritated by viral infection, causing inflammation of the gland which results in swelling of the same. Starting from the age range of 30-50 years this problem may continue into your 60s and 70s.

Although infection (from microorganisms, fungi, genital viruses or certain types of parasites) triggers the problem of prostatitis, there are certain types of prostatitis which are still unknown by the medical world.

The 4 types of prostatitis commonly observed are acute bacterial prostatitis, chronic bacterial prostatitis, chronic abacterial prostatitis and pain in prostrate glands termed as prostatodynia. Out of these 4 types of prostatitis, it seems that only 5% of cases are related to bacterial infection. Causes for the rest are cloudy.

Prostatitis need to be observed and treated by a doctor. Symptoms like urinary pain or burning, difficulty while passing urine, pain or trouble at the starting of urination, feeling of sharp pain at the time of ejaculation, and feeling of pain in the genital area of the affected person accompanied by mild to severe fever must all be respected and medical attention sought. Take Care.

Keeping FIT - how to?

Keeping fit is not all about losing weight and exercising. It is about eating well - the right food for your body, sleeping well - enough rest, 45 minutes of physical activity everyday - be it outdoor sports, jogging, or a work-out at the gym and keeping stress at bay - relaxation of your mind. There are ways and methods to achieve all these and should you want expert advice, you may contact me at GYM Hi-Rep, Saberkas Commercial Centre, Jalan Pujut, Miri.

'POLITICAL' Bloggers' Democracy

There are a handful of 'political' bloggers in Sarawak who do not reveal their identities for reasons only they know best. Some of their blogs are mighty colourful. While some are mild in their tone, many are harsh and whacked the government left, right and centre. Some are undoubtedly unhappy with the Chief Minister of Sarawak and his 'gang' of cabinet ministers. They are indeed the centre of all the talks and one has only to see Sarawak Talk to believe. Calling them names and monsters instead of ministers, some blogs are ironically, popular with the disgruntled lot of Sarawakians who would mercilessly vent their anger at the government. And CORRUPTION seems to be behind it all, the agenda includes land issues and development projects falling into the hands of a selected few.
Many people would find pleasure in following such negative thoughts and many too, on the other hand, would feel disgusted at the unruly language used. Maybe this is what we called democracy, one man, one vote, you have your say, I have mine and the majority rules.

We decide our destiny...

We cannot achieve the objective of being ONE without peace, love and compassion. We can go on praying for others, even do our best for others unselfishly and still cannot be one if we ignore the conflicts within our own souls, our own families, and our own communities.

Change is not about managing others but ourselves. We cannot force the world to change anymore than we can force an individual to change. We need to start with ourselves, to do our part, how small it maybe, to set the course, do our best and trust that as we do it, we send out a resonance to others around inviting them to do the same. Barack Obama is the living proof of change with the message of peace, love and compassion. He has been in office for more than a 100 days and is making inroads into change.

For each and every one of you who is a Malaysian reading this note from me, take a stand and do your part. Do your part by working on yourself. Stop worrying about the things that you cannot change. Stop worrying about what other people are saying or doing. Instead, do what you can in each moment of each day to be a shining example of peace, love, and compassion.

Vitamin C and your health

Our food today is very much processed in nature, coming in all sorts of packets, cans and bottles and containing all kinds of preservatives. Most are unhealthy to say the least. Such food has lost most of the nutrients including the much needed vitamins.

Here I will talk about the importance of vitamin C. The thing that prompted me to write about this was out of a conversation I had with a customer who was at my gym yesterday.

I regard vitamin C or ascorbic acid as the most essential of all the vitamins. Vitamin C is an organic nutrient and act as a catalyst in our body. A catalyst is a substance that allows a chemical reaction to occur using less time and less energy than it would take under normal conditions. Enough vitamin C in the body can:

1. Help protect cells from free radical change
2. Lower the risks of cancer
3. Regenerate vitamin E supplies
4. Improve iron absorption

Some of the conditions that indicate your lack of vitamin C are frequent colds and infection, poor wound healing, tiredness/fatigue after light activity.

The best sources of natural vitamin C are from fruits and vegetables. Of course, cooking and heating will deplete the vitamin C in food. It is also sensitive to air and water. So, the wisest choice is still fresh fruits. And do take note that papaya has a very high content of vitamin C. The recommended dietary allowance of vitamin C is around 100 milligrams per day but this is the minimal so as to avoid scurvy. Owing to our 21st century living, a more sensible intake would be around 500 milligrams per day.

(Note: Vitamins are either Fat soluble or Water soluble. Whilst fat soluble vitamins i.e. A,D, E and K are associated to toxicity if taken in large amount, Vitamin C is water soluble and not toxic.).

INSTANT noodles...find out here...read on

Instant noodles are so popular these days that even children under 6 know how to prepare them instantaneously. They come in standard packets with loveable looks complete with mighty names like ‘President' and ‘Sedap’ to annotate taste. ‘Maggi’, as many claimed, is still the best around in Malaysia.

Depending on the flour quality, instant noodles are nothing other than a processed form of food made of wheat flour (starch) and hardened with guar gum (a kind of sugar). Wet noodles can be dried using the air drying or vacuum processes.

Noodles are pretty harmless, what is dangerous are the MSG in the flavor packets that can harm people. MSG, or monosodium glutamate, is a "flavor enhancer" used to improve the taste of sweet, salty, bitter, or sour foods. Another worrisome chemical is boric acid (the Chinese Hokkien called it peng seh) found in noodles. This preservative used in the furniture industry and in medication is a banned food preservative in Malaysia. Anyone who flouts the law can be charged and fined up to RM 100,000, jailed 10 years or both. Are we are at the mercy of the manufacturers? wow…

(CAUTION: A person who consumes food with a lot of boric acid could vomit, suffer from dysentery, dermatitis, kidney failure and damage to the blood vessels.).
